Our quizzes have continued on a monthly basis - and we are amazed and grateful for the fantastic support you have given to the different organisations we support! Over 300 for East Anglian Air Ambulance and about the same to Eye Opportunity Group! Fantastic! Teams of 4 are needed, fiver per person, bring your own snacks or buy chocolate or crisps from the bar. Mars bars for the team with the lowest score!
STOP PRESS - Funds from the Quiz on Friday 18th March will go to DEC
Bingo is on the last Friday of the month, and is also successfully raising funds for locally nominated charities and good causes, with 220 going to Eye Opportunity Group. Again, bring your own snacks or chocolate and crisps are available at the bar. Be ready to start just after 8pm
Both Bingo and quiz evenings have also helped to add to funds for the Syleham and Wingfield jubilee celebrations in June.
STOP PRESS - Funds from the bingo or 25th March will go to DEC
The volunteer manned bar is open every Tuesday and Friday from 8pm. Pool, darts and board games are available. To keep everything legal we ask you to become a member of Syleham and Wingfield Sports and Social club at an annual cost of 3.50 (3.00 concs)
You will see that J's Meadow has had the addition of an oak tree which will add to the Queen's Green canopy initiative. Also planted are three Queen Elizabeth II roses to also mark the Platinum jubilee. The pedestrian gate is always open, seating available to gaze at the beautiful view over the Waveney valley!
We would like to thank all those who have used the collection point for crisp packets to support the Fress Scouts - this will cease operations, and the last packet will be delivered to their collector, on Thursday 14th April. The scouts have included a thank you elsewhere in the Village Voice.
Please continue to recycle your mixed glass and bags of clean, old clothing in the recycling banks at the hall - monies from these go into village hall funds. Thank you
There will be a scrap metal collection skip on the car park from Monday 11th April, for two weeks, until Sunday 24th April. Monies raised will be added to village hall funds. Any metal items, but as always, please do not bring gas cylinders, fridges or freezers. Thank you
The Coffee, Chat, Craft with the addition of half hour of chair based exercise on the last Thursday of the month is seeing ever more joining the hilarity! We do enjoy ourselves! Eastern Angles will be at Syleham and Wingfield village hall with their professional touring theatre production of 'Booming Vioces' on Thursday 19th May starting 7.30pm. Please book via the Eastern Angles website https://easternangles.co.uk/event/booming-voices
Booming Voices aims to capture the magic of the Broads and explore its possible future. From a range of interviews with people living on this iconic landscape, the play fuses real voices, music and science to tell a new, unheard story of the Broads.
In the height of the pandemic, Jen, a young student, is shielding in an isolated cottage on the edge of a watery haven, housesitting for a Professor in the US who is investigating the impact of climate change. Together they explore the iconic wildlife and nature of the Broads, showing us just how vulnerable this seemingly timeless landscape is.
With the songs of acclaimed folk musician Jimmy Alridge, and insights from figures who helped discover the true nature of this wetland paradise (comparable to Ibiza, sang David Bowie), Booming Voices promises to be an evening that both prepares us for the future and gives us hope.
On Friday 3rd June Syleham and Wingfield Sports and Social club will be organising an event for Wingfield and Syleham neighbours at the village hall. This will be a free to enter evening of entertainment spanning from the 50's to the present day including some live music. The Sports and Social club will also be supporting the Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday 5th June by providing a Beer tent as well as opening the bar in the village hall.
